It is with great pleasure that we announce the establishment of the Fleming College Student Chapter of WiCyS (Women in CyberSecurity.) Fleming is the first college and only the 3rd post-secondary institution in Canada to join this growing global community.
The stated mission of WiCyS is to recruit, retain, and advance women in cybersecurity. By uniting thriving professionals with aspiring students, they create opportunities for collaboration, learning, networking, and mentoring[1].
Working alongside the Fleming CSI Club, we look forward to hosting engaging activities available to all Fleming students and the wider community such as guest speakers and CTF events. These will promote the importance of cybersecurity in our everyday lives but also raise awareness of the rewarding career opportunities this field and the CSI program can offer to young women.
The Fleming College Student Chapter of WiCyS will be overseen by student president Niki (Amanda) Kaminski, and faculty advisor Mamdouh Mina. We welcome the support and participation of faculty, staff, and students at Fleming, and invite women from neighbouring universities and colleges to join us as well in creating a vibrant community.
